July
31st rafted with B Mondo off Galley Bay in Desolation Sound: We left
Lasqueti this morning with the promise of good winds for a sail north.
The fickle winds never materialized so we ended up motoring. While
enroute Carl had Pam circle a “rock pile”. The rock pile was really a
rock that was 50 to 80 feet below the surface of the water where he
thought there might be fish. One cast and fish on! She fought well but
we finally netted one nice legal sized ling cod so it is fresh fish for
dinner! We were able to take our time and go a scenic route up the
Thulin passage past the Copeland Islands. We landed in Galley Bay just
inside of Desolation Sound, our goal since this time last year! What a
beautiful setting. We are anchored facing the amazing backdrop of the
British Columbia Coast Range Mountains. We all took a swim off the end
of the boats in nice clear 72 degree water and were treated to a
lightening show. This day is even more special as it marks the one
year milestone for Carl in his role of stroke survivor. We are so
grateful to be sharing this in this location with good friends Walt and
Odile.
