28th rafted with B Mondo in Tribute Bay off of Hornby island: Good
morning! Today we motored for seven hours straight into the wind,
destination Hornby Island. We motored alongside of and past the US and
Canadian torpedo range. I radioed ahead to make sure that it was ‘not
active’. An uneventful motoring with a goal of rafting up alongside
Walt and Odile in Tribute Bay. They greeted us with a freshly harvested
seafood meal, mussels, clams and oysters. What a treat, even for Pam
who until now has not been much of a seafood fan. Freshly caught and
cooked perfectly seems to make it so much better! We are rafted which
means all we had to do was pull alongside their boat and tie onto it
using their anchor to keep us in place. Some folks have asked how we
are able to take off for a couple of months. We are fortunate to have
our mail all forwarded to our son Jacob who is also managing our rental.
So far we have heard from renters that they had to call the sheriff to
retrieve their LOADED handgun that they had left in a drawer and this
morning received a photo of a squirrel sitting on top of the radio in
the bookcase. This was at least amusing to the guests who took photos
then plugged the hole after they shooed the squirrels back out! Thank
you Jacob and Cindy for taking such good care of the beach house
