June 14th – 15th 2017 Getting ready this year seems
to have really snuck up on us. It is a
combination of leaving a couple weeks earlier than normal and feeling like we
lost a couple of months of boat maintenance time when the northwest decided to go
into deep freeze followed by incessant rain.
None-the-less we departed June 15th as planned preceded by the June 14th pre-school graduation of granddaughter Emily. We spent the afternoon enjoying the Class of 2030 then a farmer’s market bon voyage dinner with Jacob, Brittney, Emily and Sam. Perhaps in a few more years they too may travel a bit on Nana and Papa’s boat.
We departed the home dock at 0815, waited for the “49
Vancouver” railroad bridge to clear all the train traffic then it was off down
the Mighty Columbia. We had a soggy yet
swift two step all the way to Cathlamet.
We tied up for our free reciprocal boat slip and then went to River Mile
38 brew pub for a nice glass of their porter.
