June 26, 2015

We were going to sleep in but around 4:30 I clearly hear a klaxon bell which in a marina can mean trouble. It went off so I figured it was taken care of. Later I mentioned that to our son Zach. His comment “oh that was my alarm. Yes it is a klaxon bell.” Needless to say we have him turn it off for tomorrow since we will be sleeping in again.

Before we depart we visit with the neighbor and tour his trimaran. He moors in Hood River Oregon and lives in Montana. Today we do motor across to Ilwaco and wind our way up their lazy narrow channel. It is quite gusty winds and we are glad to tie up again and settle in for the night. We venture into Longbeach for dinner and will soon be watching a movie via Netflix on our computer. We will not be sailing across the bar tomorrow either since the sweltering weather in Portland is creating high winds and confused seas.

As we continue our journey know that we will not always have email and that we will not always be able to stay in touch.  It is part of the package of sailing at least for us for now.
